On September 30th, Gut Check promotions held another electrifying event, known as Gut Check Championship Series, that showcased some of the most thrilling kickboxing and Muay Thai fights of the year. Among the standout fighters of the night was matchmaker Helen Locura, who put together an incredible lineup that kept the audience on the edge of their seats.
One of the most memorable moments of the event was the amateur kickboxing bout between Bobby Fish and Joel Ramos. Fish displayed his skill and power by delivering a massive second-round knockout, which turned out to be the only knockout of the night. The crowd erupted in excitement, setting the tone for the rest of the evening.
Gene Kim, who had previously suffered a loss against Greg Pritchett III, came back with a vengeance. He showcased his exceptional ring prowess in a dominating performance against Brady Seaman. Kim’s flawless execution and technical skills left the audience in awe, as he effortlessly controlled the ring.
Another highlight of the night was the amateur kickboxing matchup between Huthayfah Karoush and Brandon Bohannan. Karoush demonstrated an excellent ring IQ, delivering explosive combos and finishing with dynamic kicks. The crowd could not help but be amazed by Karoush’s skill and precision.
Co-Main Event: Full Rules Muay Thai
The co-main event featured an amateur full rules Muay Thai bout between Gage Gallo and Daniel Wein. The fight lived up to the high expectations set by both fighters, as it went the distance. It was a technical display of Muay Thai skills, with Wein consistently edging ahead in each round. The crowd was treated to a thrilling match that left everyone impressed.
Main Event: The Highly anticipated professional kickboxing showdown: Zak Kelly Vs Brandon Cuttino
However, the main event stole the show with the highly anticipated Professional Kickboxing 165lbs Title Bout between Glory Kickboxing Vet, Brandon “The Mechanic” Cuttino, and the talented Gut Check Vet, Zak “Noble” Kelly. Kelly, a previous two-time amateur title standout, made a remarkable comeback after a five-year layoff. Cuttino landed some powerful left hooks and a clean spinning backlist, but Kelly remained composed and determined. He retaliated with vicious leg kicks that spun Cuttino multiple times, even causing him to drop to his knees in pain. Kelly controlled the ring throughout the fight, and the judges awarded him a well-deserved unanimous decision victory with the final scores reading 50-43, 50-43, and 49-44.
